| Profile of Miracles Inc.
Mission Statement:
Miracles, Incorporated is a faith-based, private, non-profit substance abuse prevention and treatment agency. Miracles was founded in 1992 by MaryAnn Mroczek and Rhonda Walker as a grass-roots endeavor to provide residential substance abuse treatment services to women/women with dependent children at or below poverty. Miracles, Inc. expanded services to include a prevention program for children, residential intermediate and reintegration treatment for women with children, intensive outpatient treatment for men, women and families, strengths-based case management program, transitional housing for addicted women with a history of homelessness and mental illness, and a permanent supportive housing program. Miracles, Inc. envisions a world that understands the erosion of the family caused by the disease of addiction and the importance of maintaining a ‘safety net’ for individuals and families that can not afford substance abuse treatment. The cornerstone of substance abuse treatment is the belief that all families and communities have unique talents and gifts, which can be utilized in the recovery process. With adequate resources, understanding, research and implementation of best practices, this bio-psycho-social-spiritual disease can be conquered. We underscore the impact of social injustice, racism, poverty, abuse and inequality as underlying factors in the development of social environments, which breed addiction and futility. We encourage and support all efforts, local and state, community and national that support an understanding of the disease of addiction as a Public Health Issue. 'Circle of Life' Philosophy-The most effective approach in dealing with at risk children and addictive family systems is by completing a comprehensive assessment, which is the guide for effective treatment planning and individualized interventions that are meaningful to the consumer. Each individual/family bring their own unique life experience into the treatment process, including family system, ethnicity, gender, culture, biology, and other psycho-social-spiritual beliefs and attitudes. The evaluation process includes the building of client and counselor rapport with an attitude of respect and individual freedom (self-determination). As a result, Miracles, Inc. recommends the least restrictive environment be used in the treatment of addiction whenever possible. | ||||
